This brewery and malt house is sited in Neumarkt. The plant, with a very long brewing tradition, produces approximately 70000 hl of beer and 75000 hl of non-alcoholic beverages per year. In 2008, the brewery integrated a solar heat system consisting of a 72 m2 (50 kW) field of single-glazed air solar collectors. In this case, solar energy is used to pre-heat ambient air for the drying process in the malt house.
Ambient air is used directly for drying so, no buffer storage is required and the utilisable temperature is favourable. The process requires temperatures of up to 60°C (SO-PRO, 2010).
